Ceramic knives are harder than steel and not as flexible. Care must be taken not to pry or twist the knives. Do not use ceramic knives as choppers and only use on plastic or wooden chopping boards.
Are Ceramic Knives Dishwasher Safe?
Ceramic knives are not recommended for dishwashers. A ceramic knife could chip due to being knocked by other items in the dishwasher, and it could be dangerous if reaching in and catching the ceramic blade.
Where should I keep my Ceramic Knife?
Ceramic Knives can be stored in a knife block or cutlery tray.
Can Ceramic Knives be Sharpened?
Ceramic knives can be sharpened with a diamond sharpener but it is advisable to get them done with a professional ceramic sharpening service. They will keep their sharp edge for a long time and do not need to be sharpened like traditional steel bladed knives.
What are Ceramic Knives made From?
Ceramic knives are made from Zirconia. Zirconium oxide produces the high tech ceramic which makes these knives harder than steel.
How are Ceramic Knives made?
The Zirconia is fired to a high temperature and high pressure to form the high grade ceramic blade. The ceramic blade is made sharp by diamond sharpening.
Will my Ceramic Knife break if dropped?
Any knife could break at the tip if dropped. Care does need to be taken with the tip of your ceramic knife, but if damaged it could possibly be re-sharpened .
